Wheelbarrow and Shovel...

I have decided there are two kinds of people in this world. There are the elephants, and there are the ones with the wheelbarrow and shovel.

We start out in life with our mom, or other caregivers, that wipe our chins and tails until we learn to do it for ourselves. Good moms teach us that to do our own cleaning is the right thing, and can even be a rewarding thing for our lives.

The lazy moms either don't teach their kids this, or teach them how to be just as lazy and learn to manipulate others to do the clean up for them.

In life, these are the elephants. They are content to let someone else follow behind them and clean up their messes.

The wheelbarrow and shovel folks are the ones who, no matter what, follow behind and clean up after others. Some even find it a rewarding thing. Others just realize that if they don't follow and scoop, it won't get done. They resign themselves to this fact, do their job. Some will bitch and moan about it, but they still do it because it has to be done.

Otherwise, we would all be hip deep in poo in no time.

The thing is, eventually, we will all reach the point where someone else will have to take the lead, and clean up after even those who push the wheelbarrow.

If we raise our kids to clean up after themselves, and treat them with kindness, they will eventually take to caring for us with just as much kindness.

Still, in the end, we are still elephants, walking along, not caring about the trail of poo we are leaving behind us. And, eventually someone will have to come along with a shovel and wheelbarrow.

It is a lousy job, being the one shoveling someone else's crap, though. Isn't it?

Okay, I am one to bitch and moan about it, but still clean up after the elephants....
