Sunday Mornings

I have a couple of things to write about today. The title shall start me off.

Sunday mornings when I make it to church are my favorites. Yes, I enjoy the service and fellowship with my church family, but to be honest, it's the trip there and back that somehow jumpstarts my week. Most of the time, I make the nearly 30 mile drive, one way, alone. I like the drive for the same reason I once loathed it: the curves. I think I've written about it before, but I get such a kick out of taking those curves, recommended 35-45 mph, at 60+, rarely touching the brakes, the music blasting. The husband doesn't call me Mario for nothing. This morning, with the wonderful opening guitar rifts of Smoke on the Water blaring from the speakers, I found myself grinning like a maniac, never touching the brakes at 65-70 mph. No, not a death wish: I never feel more alive than when I am on those curves.

The other thing I wanted to talk about is this movie I rented last night. It is a funny, sweet, and sad flick called One Day, staring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgiss. The story is of a couple and how they remain friends through the years from 1988 to 2006. If you are into chick flicks, I highly recommend it. If you like British films, even more so. It had me laughing, sobbing, and wanting to throw things at the screen. My youngest, who abhors 'chick flicks' liked it as well. That in its self says a lot. You want to wring the guy's neck, of course, for being such a blind idiot. Ms Hathaway does awkward and gawky in such a lovely way. There are some great tunes from those years that give it a real feeling, Most of all, it is just a portrait of two people from different back grounds who remain friends through so many changes. If you see it, let me know what you think. I love it, and will be watching the racks to buy it, no matter what the price. I have to have a dvd of this movie for my very own.

Well, that's it for now. TTFN.
