Life is Just a One Night Stand...

This week has seen the passing of Dick Clark, and Levon Helm. Those who don't recognize the name would know the voice. Drummer for The Band, it's his voice that begs Annie to take the load off... I was thinking, though, about how so many voices from my early years and glory days are suddenly going silent... Boston's lead singer Brad Delp, MJ, Whitney, George and John,Andy and Maurice, Elvis... not to mention the voices that were already gone when I first discovered them... Otis, Richie, Sam, Jim...

We live in a time of miracle technology that has saved some of the best voices God ever gifted, and preserved incredible talents for our grandchildren to know someday. My daughter was trying to convince me that Tupac was still alive... because of the holigram thing. Now that would be fabulous. Can't you just imagine sitting in your livingroom, with a holigram of Elvis in that black leather... or the white, I'm not picky. How about Patrick Swayze dancing...

It is an odd feeling to be of the generation that actually grew up with Rock music. Our parents had the beginning, but WE are the ones who can actually say we have heard it ALL our lives. We have seen it evolve and morph, bouncing so many tangents into so many directions... And now, we are watching the founders drift away to what ever comes next... I keep thinking of the Righteous Brothers' song, "If You Believe in Forever... " It's true. That really must be one hell of a band...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-15oNga8HUA
