Geen Eyed Monster

I spent another Saturday with my best friend and some of her family. We joked that she was going to teach me how to make dumplings. I even made a clever comment about fire exstinguishers on my FB status... something I rarely do. Mostly, I just played gopher. Her mom has what she calls a 'one butt' kitchen. It's actually been expanded since we were kids, but sti, I felt in the way. The dumplings were wonderful and I made a pig of myself.

I met her boyfriend, finally. Well her newest. I must say, I like this one better than either of her husbands, or the last guy she was seeing. He seems a good soul: kind, generous, quiet, and sweet. He gave her a ring Friday, and she posted photos, but sent me one of the first on my phone. I saw it 'in the flesh' yesterday as well. Nice. It looks like she is going to try the commitment thing one more time. I'm happy for her, if it's what she wants. I told her I'm on her side which ever way she goes.

To be honest, I was just a little bit jealous. I've been married 25 years, got squat for the actual anniversary, and I can't remember the last time the husband went out of his way to do something sweet for me. My BF's new beau took our plates to the kitchen after we finished dessert watching TV. He lights her cigarettes. He holds the door for her. He rubs his had lightly across her back when he walks by her. He sometimes makes and brings her the morning coffee. The thing is, he doesn't make a big show of it, put on a big production. It just seems natural for him, not forced or phony or a big chore. She deserves a little pampering after the last losers she had bounce in and out of her life. Heck, every woman deserves a little pampering once in a while just to know someone care. I am so happy for her, but yeah, I'm a bit jealous.
