Being a Mom

First, thanks, Connie!! LOL!!

It's Mother's Day, and since it's been a few days since I wrote here, I figured I'd throw something together.

It wasn't a great week, and between the kids snarling at each other, me snarling at any who crossed my path, and the men folk in my life either cutting out early, being obnoxious jerks, or shrugging off my moods as the usual no big deal, I wasn't a happy camper. I slipped. One cigarette Friday evening. It was the foulest, most disgusting thing ever. After the second puff, I was almost gagging... but I made myself finish the thing. I hope I never want a cigarette again. I was seriously grossed out. I'm sure the Punk will laugh his head off when he reads that. But, Man!! it's been a month...actually 30 days today.

So... Mother's Day. As usual, my mom's getting her present Friday. This time, however, I plan to get her exactly what she wanted. The husband's second paycheck from the new company was a little light... and since we've been playing catch up, it had me a bit strapped again. It sucks not having money of your own, and no one willing to take a chance on someone who deserately needs and wants to work. This morning, how ever, I learned the true meaning of the day. My daughter came through my room very early, after a trip to the bathroom, and said there was something weird in my chair. Thinking the cat had dragged in another bird or baby rabbit, I got up trying to remember where I last put my rubber gloves. In my chair was a dozen roses... from my boy. and, a box of one of my favorite chocolates... orange jelly sticks... and a note. My son expresses himself well in writing... better than he realizes... One of my favorite lines: "You can put up with me being an asshole one minute then the next help me with what ever I need help with. I honestly don't know what I would do with out you..." Ok, I bawled... Just when I feel as if I am at the end of my rope, ready to tie a noose, the boy let's me know he really does get it. He says I'm the best mom in the world in the note, too. That, my dearest, I will remind you of next time you decide I'm a waste of space and a pain...
